Overview
The most renowned hike in Torres del Paine National Park, part of the illustrious W circuit, is a challenging trek replete with treasures, adventure, and breathtaking vistas. Commencing at the Welcome Center, this hike unfolds in three segments. The initial segment serves to warm up the body, traversing pre-Andean scrubland as we begin our ascent, which features a series of slopes interspersed with resting spots. Upon entering the Asencio Valley, we will navigate the famed Paso del Viento, where we will be rewarded with our first glimpses of the valley leading to the Chilean Refuge, where we will pause for a snack and hydration. Subsequently, our second segment will take us through a gently undulating valley amidst Magellanic Lenga forests, with opportunities to refill our water bottles from glacial tributaries. Upon reaching the tree line, we will embark on the third segment, traversing the moraine that leads us to the base of the Torres. This area is typically more exposed to wind and rain. We will arrive at the Mirador de la Base de las Torres, where we can marvel at the Eighth Wonder of the World, enjoy lunch, capture photographs, and then retrace our steps back to the starting point.
